How to Choose the Best Travel Blanket
While the basic features of a travel blanket are essentially the same, some are better suited for indoor use, while others are meant for outdoor excursions. The materials used in their construct can vary, too, though most are made of fleece or some other form of polyester. Here are some of the most important things to consider when shopping for a travel blanket:
- Comfort – Is the material soft and gentle on the skin? Will it provide sufficient warmth for long airplane rides or cold nights spent camping out?
- Convenience – How portable is the blanket? Is it both lightweight and easy to carry?
- Value – Is the product durable enough to make it worth the investment? Note that lower cost doesn’t always translate into a better deal; if the blanket falls apart after just a couple of uses, the savings become less relevant.
In order to make your decision that much easier, we’ve narrowed the field down to 10 of the top-rated travel-size blankets currently available on Amazon. Read on for an in-depth look at each one of these quality products.

Bosa Cozy-Soft Travel Blanket
In a unique departure, this blanket is woven of 70 percent natural bamboo fiber and 30 percent cotton, giving it breathability and a lovely soft texture. It folds easily into a zipper bag, where it measures a mere 8 by 6.5 inches (it unfolds to about 40 by 50 inches, a relatively small size). It also serves double duty as a pillowcase, which makes the high-end price point a little bit easier to justify. Bear in mind that cotton, while soft and durable, does not wick away moisture, nor can it retain heat as well as fleece, so this might not be the best choice for camping.

ForestFish Fleece Throw Blanket
Made of polyester with sewn edges, the ForestFish isn’t the most compact or portable blanket on our list, but it is one of the most durable. It measures in at 40 by 60 inches and fits easily into its own dustproof, waterproof drawstring sack (which is included in the purchase price). Due to this slightly awkward packaging, though, it’s not a good option for backpacking or carry-on luggage. Still, the material is soft and inviting, and the price is more than fair given the quality. Best of all, it comes with a 30-day money-back warranty.

Did have a bit of a smell when it arrived, a quick wash and a little Downey in the rinse, smells nice & very soft!!
Would definitely buy again!!
Cocoon Coolmax Travel Blanket
The Coolmax, on the other hand, adapts wonderfully to the out-of-doors, as its polyester material wicks away moisture and has a high “breathability” factor. It’s also surprisingly lightweight, given its durability and size–55 by 70 inches when in use–and it comes with its own handy travel bag. It’s priced slightly higher than most of the options on our list, but if you’re in the market for a blanket that can hold up to the elements, this is likely your best bet.

Travelrest 4-in-1 Premier Class Travel Blanket
Woven of the finest coral fleece, this poncho-style blanket is suitable for sporting events, car rides, and just about any manner of travel you can think of. The compact case can do double duty as either a pillow or lumbar support, and it comes with built-in carry straps for ease of transport. While it’s one of the smallest selections on our list at just 38 by 60 inches, its versatility more than makes up for the modest dimensions. Taking that into consideration, the Travelrest is also set at a very fair price.

Note- the blanket only comes in one size and if you are a taller person you may want to check the length before buying. I am 5’2 and this blanket fit just right when I stand.
Cabeau Fold ‘n Go
Like the Travelrest, this 36-by-60-inch unit can also double as a pillow, but the price point is significantly lower, which makes it worth a look. When zippered into its pillow position, the blanket–made of French microfiber–measures at just 12 by 7 inches (and 4 inches deep), and comes equipped with handles for ease of transport. It’s also machine washable, a convenient feature that will come in handy on longer trips. Cabeau offers a money-back guarantee for anyone who isn’t completely satisfied with their product.

EASELAND Soft Travel Size Blanket
For its reasonable price, the EASELAND is quite large–50 by 61 inches–and offers versatility and comfort in spades. Made of microfiber, it’s reversible, with one smooth side to contrast with the fuzzy plush side, making it suitable for use in all types of weather. It’s also machine washable, in addition to being fade- and shrink-resistant, and comes in a variety of colors. Unlike the majority of the models listed here, though, it doesn’t come with its own carrying case, and it large size ranks it as one of the least portable options.

Cloudz Fleece Blanket
Cloudz offers an affordable option that measures almost as long as the EASELAND, at 50 by 60 inches; however, it shrinks into a convenient 9-by-5-inch cylinder that comes with built-in carry straps for ease of transport. It’s woven out of polyester and would be a good choice for school sporting events that require long bus rides, but there’s a reason why it’s priced so low–it likely won’t hold up to more rugged expeditions. Still, for infrequent users who aren’t overly concerned about space, it offers good value.

Lug Nap Sac Blanket
Both comfortably snug and easily portable, the Lug Nap is sized for convenience at 35 by 46 inches. In fact, it can be used as a blanket and pillow all at once, giving this product a strong value rating despite its moderate-to-high price tag. The fleece blanket zips neatly into the matching pillowcase, which comes equipped with an inflatable pillow that can be inserted when the blanket is in use. Both the case and the blanket are machine washable. While the Lug Nap has plenty to recommend it, note that it’s on the smaller side; if you like a huge comfy blanket to wrap up in, you might do better with another model.

World’s Best Cozy-Soft Microfleece Blanket
This 50 by 60 inch fleece blanket is one of the lowest-priced options here, but it’s also exceptionally lightweight and easy to pack and carry, making it a good choice for long-distance travel. While it unfolds to a generous size, it rolls up into a neat cylinder that can be easily stored in a shoulder bag or carry-on. Note that microfleece might not be the best option for rugged camping excursions or other outdoor events; if you hike or camp frequently, or are looking for something to keep you warm while sitting on the grass at the soccer stadium, something sturdier might be in order.

Flight 001 Travel Blanket
The best use of this polyester blanket can be glimpsed right in the name. Though it measures a generous 55 by 55 inches when in use, it folds right down to a barely-there 9 by 8 inches (with a 2-inch depth) when stored in its own handy zip pouch. This pouch, which is made of the same soft, lightweight material as the blanket, also doubles as a pillowcase. Billed as an “emergency” travel blanket, the Flight 001 is exceptionally lightweight and easily stuffed into a shoulder bag, knapsack, or carry-on.

It is very lightweight, but feels very “cozy”. This will be perfect for my upcoming transatlantic flight. It seems to be made of a very lightweight, yet warm fabric. It folds up small into a little bag. So small, you can throw it in your purse or bag. I may even keep it next to my easy chair for when I am reading and feel chilled. Great item. Would make a great gift.
